Time Flies By, or The Best Weekend Ever

Okay, maybe not ever, but last week/weekend was one of the best I've ever had. After the fabulous birthday celebrations, my week of fun continued with dinner with Cindy and Kevin on Wednesday and a little trip to Tortilla Coast with Kevin, Elizabeth and a friend of Kevin's from high school. It was a very Washington night because there were some people there who work for the DNC who told us that Edwards had been selected for Kerry's ticket. Nice. And then the newspapers found out the next week.

Friday turned into a half-day of work, so Kevin and I took the bus back to New York mid-day. Saturday was work, and then a trip out to Brooklyn to attend the largest wedding reception I've ever been to. It's worthy of it's own separate post someday, but suffice it to say that the bridal party came into the reception room to the delicate strains of 2001 Space Odessy, and the last of the five courses wasn't served until 11:30 PM. Sunday was church at Redeemer, a short trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and then a mysterious subway ride to attend whatever suprise plans Kevin had for 4th of July.

And that turned out to be a Lyle Lovett concert in Battery Park, which was absolutely awesome. He kept on telling me how excited I would be, to the point where I was starting to wonder if the surprise could live up to the hype. I was ecstatic once he told me what it was -- I must have asked him five times if he was serious, and telling me the truth, as we were standing in line to go in to the concert. Fan-tastic.

Afterwards we walked past Ground Zero on our way back to Kevin's apartment. And then my baby brother called to chat, asking me about my birthday and Kevin. And then said "Hey, do you think you could come to San Antonio sometime next month to hang out?" I said "I can look into tickets -- is everyone getting together for some kind of reunion or something?" And he said "I'm getting married."

Um, yeah, I can get to San Antonio for that.

It turns out that he and Faith have been talking about marriage for a while, and decided they wanted to do it by December and while everyone is on a break from school. And it seems like it makes just as much sense to do the deed before school starts, so next month it is. I'm going to be a bridesmaid, Stephen will be best man, and my dad is going to officiate.

I went back to DC on Monday and the week turned crazy busy at work. One of my event coordinators quit, so I'm covering for her and trying to hire someone new, plus annual reviews were last week and two other new people started within the company. Since I'm in charge or something now, it was decided I would be the best one to familiarize them with what our group does. In all my free time.

I'm back in New York this weekend, working again today while Kevin is in class. It's another beautiful day.
