One Year Ago Today....
I was on a plane from Dallas to Dulles, with a one way ticket to a new life. I knew one person here (Student Dr. Cole) and already had plans for one visit from Kristin and Stephanie.
My life is a little different now. I've seen a complete cycle of seasons for the mid-Atlantic region (summer is still my favorite) and experienced an earthquake and a hurricane (and soon the cicadas will be here). I've made new friends (but not replaced the old) and live in a different apartment and am working a different job. Smithwick's Ale has made it to America (RiRa in Bethesda) and I've found two good sushi places. I don't always get lost when I go to Virginia now.
Other people's live are different too. Stephanie's getting married in three weeks, Kristin and Laura and Sarah all have new jobs. My brother Stephen is graduating from college next month, and going directly to grad school. Both of my parents have new jobs too, and David has decided on a major (and has about six jobs, from what I can tell).
My Pats won one more championship. The Red Sox did not. I'm counting down to football season already, although I've already seen one baseball game this year.
One year in DC. Check.
