Spring has Sprung
I think it's officially spring in Washington, specifically demarcated by the arrival of the cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin and in other parts of the city. Mr. Boyfriend and I went to see them on Saturday, and it was fun to get outside (on the second of three gorgeous days in a row). There were tons of people out, including a wedding party getting their pictures taken, which reminded me of one of my favorite features of seasons: people take advantage of the nice weather. I will continue to take advantage of it as well.
I think the thing that has struck me the most about it, though, is how pale the blossoms are. I was expecting more of a riotous burst of color on the trees (sort of like fall, but in spring). Instead, there is pink and pale pink. We saw the sun set from the Jefferson Memorial and it looked a little out of place -- somehow too bright, and too brilliant.
College basketball has passed me by this year without completely drawing me in. I'm out of both of my pools because in one I picked North Carolina (stupid Roy Williams affinity) and in the other I picked Stanford (which I stand behind but wish the outcome was different). There's roughly five months until the Madden issue of Sports Illustrated.
My crazy travel begins in two weeks: I'm off to Atlanta for two weekends in a row!
